Coherent fan emissions

چکیده
A transient grating is induced at t = 0 in an optically thin caesium vapour sample using two simultaneous intense short laser pulses which are resonant with the fundamental 6S1/2– 6P1/2 transition and characterized by the wavevectors E k1 and E k2. These pulses are followed by a third resonant excitation pulse at t = τ with wavevector E k3. Prompt and delayed super-radiant emissions follow with a spatial pattern governed by higher-order diffraction effects. We study the polarization and modulation properties of these coherent fan emissions.
